The 31st Scientific Council of the International Centre for Medical Research in Franceville met in Libreville, from 3 to 6 February 2011. Three major priorities were identified: continue to increase scientific output, continue to refine the work on emerging infectious diseases and further develop the concepts of biosafety and bioethics. A complete report on these important issues will be available within a few weeks.
