“YOUNG RESEARCHERS” AWARDS


Two prizes will reward African young researchers during the symposium “Emergence of infectious diseases, environments and biodiversity”. 
The “Ali BONGO ONDIMBA” prize, a 5 000 € award offered par the Gabonese State, will be presented by HE, Mr President of the Gabonese Republic (or Mr. Minister in charge of Research or Health in Gabon).
The “TOTAL Foundation” prize, a 5 000 € award offered by the TOTAL Foundation, will be presented by Ms Françoise BARRE-SINOUSSI, Nobel Prize for Medicine, Scientific consultant for the TOTAL Foundation

 

 

The “Ali BONGO ONDIMBA” prize

This prize rewards the best detailed abstract of an original research related to the following themes in the African continent. Members of the scientific committee form the review board. The prize winner will be invited to the symposium. He/she will present his/her research in a 10 minutes presentation at the end of the 2nd session.

 

Eligibility

Researchers from African Union countries, younger than 40 years old and working in a laboratory or research unit in an African Union country.

 

Symposium proceedings

Every detailed abstracts positively reviewed by selection board will be published in the symposium proceedings.

 

Themes

Researches on emergence /re-emergence phenomenon of infectious diseases, related to at least one topic of the 4 sessions of the symposium, all disciplines included.

 

Submission process

• Detailed abstracts must be written in French or English.

• It must be a word format, front 12, margins 2.5 and mention: Author(s)’ name(s) and affiliation, email address, themes, title and key words.

• The abstract is divided in 5 parts: introduction, objectives, methods, results and discussion (it shouldn’t exceed ± 1 500 words and 2 diagrams, charts and/or maps).

The “TOTAL Foundation” prize


The “TOTAL Foundation” prize rewards the best poster displayed during the symposium. A dedicated session (end of day 1) will allow the selection board (members of the scientific committee) to select the best poster. The prize winner will be announced at the end of the 3rd session. He/she will present his/her research in a 10 minutes presentation.

Eligibility

Young researchers from African Union countries, younger than 40 years old and working in a laboratory or research unit in an African Union country.
This poster call is opened to everyone, even those who have applied for the “Ali Bongo Ondimba” prize.

Symposium proceedings

Every poster will be published (A4 format) in the symposium proceedings.

Submission process

An A4 version (.pdf or .doc) of the poster is required one month prior to the symposium.

Posters directions

• Maximum size : 90 cm X 120 cm (portrait or landscape printing)
• Material that allows using double-face adhesive tape
• Posters must be printed beforehand by its author
• Content of the poster should be readable from 1 m distance.
• Posters must be labelled with the name of the author(s)’ name, institutional affiliations and title (in at least 2.5 cm high characters).
